Lauren LeRoy, a.k.a. “Little Miss Funeral,” is a funeral director and manager at Daniel R. Smolarek Funeral Home in New York. When Lauren heard about Passare and saw how easy it was to use and how the platform was accessible on any device at any time, she knew this was just what her funeral home needed to save time and make life easier for her and her coworkers. Here’s what Lauren had to say about her experience with Passare:
What are your initial thoughts on the Passare platform?
I love Passare. The ease of use is amazing; it just makes our day-to-day lives so much easier. The great thing about Passare is that we can do so much more than we could with our old software. The fact that we can access it anywhere, from our phone, our homes, and our tablets, is just amazing. Obviously, as a funeral director, I’m not always in the office. But no matter where I am, I can always access any information that I need.
Has Passare increased your funeral home’s efficiency?
I really think that it has. The dashboard feature alone and the schedule that it offers takes a lot of the guess work out. We can all put information in here regarding appointments, preneeds, and other things that we are doing. So I don’t have to call the other funeral director and ask him what his schedule is for the day because we all can just input it and access it. It’s made us more efficient because we don’t have to chase each other down to find out what our availabilities are. And like I said before, being able to access it on the go has helped us out greatly. I can be at home and pull up something so that I don’t have to drive to the funeral home to look up a file anymore. I don’t live too far away from the funeral home, so it’s not like it was the biggest deal before, but you realize how much time you save when you can just pull it up at home.
Do you think that Passare has benefitted the families that you serve?
Absolutely. I think that it has definitely helped us to save time because we’re not worrying about double inputting things. Our funeral home actually works with funeralOne for our website as well, so by using Passsare and entering all of the service information, obituary, and things like that, we are able to just hit a button and populate everything to our website. This allows the family to access the website quicker because it’s taking us less time to set up everything.
How has Passare helped you to save time?
You take five to ten minutes to put in all of the service information, and then all of a sudden on the dashboard you have your day right there. It tells you what arrangement conference you have, what funeral service you have, and if you are going to the crematory. So, you just take a few extra minutes to do the extra steps and put in as much information as you can, and then you go to that dashboard and you know exactly what your day is laid out to be.
Have you seen the platform change over the past three months and adapt to the needs of your funeral home?
Actually, even though we have only been using it for a short amount of time, we know that you guys are always tweaking it and making it better. One example that I have seen is the addition of the Care Center, where we can put all of our embalming and cremation information and other things like that. When we first started using this just a couple of months ago, that feature wasn’t there. It’s something that you guys have just implemented. I’m a firm believer in the more information, the better. Passare really lets us have everything all in one place, down from our embalming reports to the billing information.
What would you tell other funeral professionals about your experience with
Passare is actually the third managing program that I’ve used throughout my career, and it has by far been the best, not just for the ease of use, but also the accessibility of it. Passare is great because you will get out of it what you put into it. The more information you put in and the more detailed you are, the more you will have available at your fingertips. I also like that Passare allows you to assign different access to different people in the funeral home. So, you can give everybody a login, but if you have an associate who’s not a funeral director and you don’t want them to access certain aspects of Passare, you can monitor all of that so that everybody can get only the information that you want them to get. With the other management programs that I have used, you were never able to assign those roles before.
How do you feel about Passare’s customer service?
The customer service is amazing. Questions are answered and things get fixed very quickly. Erin is awesome. She got us set up so quickly. Even after she initially set everything up, she emailed us a couple of different times just to make sure that everything was running smoothly and to see if we had any questions. It’s very rare that in today’s day and age you have people who will send an email just to make sure that everything is running smoothly. Normally, it’s no news is good news. But with Passare, you have that personalization and that extra touch.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Passare is just awesome. This is the best management program that I’ve worked with by far. I’m so happy that our funeral home is using you guys because it just makes my job that much easier.
