Jason Harrell is a licensed funeral director and co-partner at Harrell Funeral Homes. He oversees the operations of three funeral homes and an onsite crematory. With multiple sites to coordinate, Jason was looking for a software that would help him store all information in a centralized location to help streamline his processes. He found what he was looking for in Passare’s cloud-based case management system.

What is the biggest benefit to your funeral home since starting with Passare?

It’s hard to pinpoint just one. But, if I had to choose, I would say that it’s the ability to access the platform from anywhere. Passare is a cloud-based software, which means that the system is not tied to our servers or installed on just one or two computers. We can access it from anywhere. We can pull Passare up on our phones, and even access the system from offsite if a family has a question or we need to send out a Collaboration Center link. The tool gives us the mobility we need by allowing our employees to productively meet families’ needs while working away from their desks. And the reliability of the information being stored in the cloud and not tied to a server has been very reassuring. I’d say those are the biggest benefits for me, looking at the big picture.

Have you see your efficiency improve with Passare?

Absolutely. One huge benefit to using the platform has been our ability to consolidate everything into one system. Before Passare, we used a few different systems to run our business. Too much of our time was spent inefficiently entering the same types of data into multiple systems. We had a variety of softwares we accessed to create invoices, print memorials, etc. But now, everything is in one place, and all our forms are populated through entering data into only one system. That really helps us save time and become more efficient.

How has Passare helped you manage multiple locations?

The reports that Passare generates have been valuable and easy-to-use. The reports, along with the ability to view activity at all the locations in one place, has given me the opportunity to check the pulse of the company on a regular basis. Those two benefits have been incredibly helpful.

How have your employees responded to Passare?

Now, more than a year after we started using Passare, my employees think it’s one of the best software changes we have implemented. The month before we transitioned, they were overwhelmed by the thought of making a system change of this magnitude. But now, after the training we received and finding the software so easy to use, they can see the benefits. No matter what their responsibility– administrative assistant or funeral director – each employee benefits from different tools available through Passare.

How have the families you serve reacted to the Collaboration Center?

I think that in today’s world, it’s almost expected that a company has a way to communicate and collaborate online. We all do tasks online – banking, shopping, whatever – and I think it’s valuable to have that option available to families who want to work together online to coordinate the funeral planning process. In our case, the families who have used the Collaboration Center do appreciate the access and convenience of it.

What has your experience been like with Passare’s customer support?

The staff is amazing. They are always happy to help. Not only are they open to suggestions about improving the platform, they are continually sending software updates and working to make Passare even better. I can honestly say that every time I call, I always feel like I’m heard and that they genuinely want to help me.

What would you say to other funeral professionals about Passare?
