What happened once Piasecki Funeral Home ditched paper for Passare

Written by Passare | Feb 11, 2026 11:00:00 AM

For years, Piasecki Funeral Home relied on paper processes and outdated software. The result? Redundant data entry, missed details, and hours lost to manual tasks.

Office Manager Patty Santiago knew something had to change. When her team discovered Passare, they discovered improved workflows, better reporting, and more time to focus on families.

“Change can feel intimidating, but this one is worth it,” Patty said. “Passare definitely helps us better support and serve our families.”

Hear more about how they made the leap and why they will never look back.

How did you hear about Passare?

Matt Martin, our Vice President and Managing Partner, went to a seminar at NFDA where Passare was featured. He came back really excited and told me all about it. From there, we got the ball rolling and scheduled a couple of demos.

We liked everything we saw, but it was still a really big decision. We went back and forth, wondering if this was the best option or if we should keep looking.

Ultimately, we decided to dive right in, and we’re glad we did.

How would you describe your overall experience with Passare?

Our experience with Passare has been excellent. Passare has helped us simplify our workload and eliminate double-work, especially with data entry.

Before, we were stuck in a paper system where everything had to be written and rewritten. Once we switched to Passare, we never looked back.

What challenges did you face before switching to Passare?

We desperately needed to get away from our paper processes. Manual tasks were eating up time, and mistakes were happening, such as details being missed and errors slipping through.

We also used an older software program that couldn’t run the accurate or customized reports I needed. We knew going digital would solve a lot of these problems.

How has Passare helped you address those challenges?

Passare is so easy to use, and we’ve already seen big improvements.

One thing we love is creating bundles for our staff to use with families. Essentially, when someone meets with a family, they can select a package with all the transactions we need. If something isn’t needed, they delete it. All of that makes the process smoother and gives staff more time with families instead of writing everything down.

On a practical note, Passare has saved us space. No more boxes and filing cabinets stuffed with paper. Now, everything is in one place – attachments, cases, and more.

What kind of results have you seen since implementing Passare?

We feel like we can better serve our families because we have more valuable information about the loved one because families are more involved.

Families love that they can log in and share details about their loved one. It gives us valuable insight and helps us personalize services. When we know hobbies, interests, and family stories, we can make the obituary and service more meaningful.

Speaking of the obituary, do you use the AI Obituary Writer?

We love the AI Obituary Writer, and families really appreciate it.

Writing an obituary while grieving is hard. With the AI Obituary Writer, we can give families a rough draft to start with. Then, they can take it home and add to it, or log in to Planning Center and tweak it themselves. It takes a huge load off of families, and the feedback has been very positive.

Do you use Planning Center with families?

Absolutely, we use Planning Center with every single family.

We introduce Planning Center during the first meeting and help them create an account on the spot. Immediately, the family can go in and start putting information in about their loved one.

Families love Planning Center because they can type information instead of writing it on paper.

Planning Center also helps keep families well-informed and prepared. It can be really overwhelming, and a challenge to keep everything that needs to be done straight. Planning Center lays out exactly what to expect, putting families' minds at ease.

Do you have a favorite feature in Passare?

I love the reporting tools. On the accounting side, I need to track aging accounts and run specialized reports for aftercare.

Passare makes it easy to customize, run, and schedule reports. It helps us stay organized and even supports our tradition of sending a rose to families on the one-year anniversary of their loved one’s passing.

What’s your experience working with Passare Support?

Our experience with support has been really smooth! Everyone has been easy to work with, and they are always there to help.

During implementation, we had an issue with forms not printing correctly. I reached out to the support team, and they fixed it the same day. Their response time is unmatched.

Even at NFDA, I had a minor issue, and a team member fixed it right there in the booth. You don’t usually get personal experiences with support teams, so that was really cool.

Would you recommend Passare to a colleague? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend Passare. Passare has improved how we serve families and how we spend our time. It’s user-friendly, and anyone can learn it with minimal support.

Change can feel intimidating, but this one is worth it. Passare definitely helps us better support and serve our families.
