How Titus Funeral Homes stays ahead with Passare

For Tyler Huffer, Funeral Director and Preplanning Specialist, the biggest frustration with his old software system wasn't just a lack of features. He felt stuck. The software was stagnant, and as his business grew, the technology stayed behind.

Since switching to Passare, that "stagnant" feeling is gone.

By leaning into new features, Tyler’s team has moved to the cutting edge of the industry. Their firm has seen significant growth because they finally have a system that continues to improve.

What prompted your funeral home to switch to Passare?

We were looking for something more inclusive across all our locations. We wanted someone who could grow their system with us as we expand.

We also wanted a partner who is always developing and improving their system. Many systems become very stagnant, and we saw that with our last provider. We didn't want that anymore. We wanted someone who's always innovating, and Passare has done that so far in our short time with them.

How has the software transition impacted your team?

We’re always trying to make things easier on our staff so they don't have as much stress. Every one of our staff members is super impressed so far with the software and the support team that is in place to help us.

An added benefit is that our staff gets to see the cutting edge of things happening in funeral service. Having the right technology pushes everyone on our team to keep growing and serving families in better ways.

How would you describe your experience with Support?

The support team has been phenomenal. When we call, the team is always available and ready to help. We get answers to our questions pretty much right away. When there’s a hiccup in the system we're not experienced with, they walk us through every step.

How are you using the mobile app to manage the business?

The mobile app is probably the top feature for me. It’s the most useful because it allows me access to my cases 24/7. It puts all the information at my fingertips.

We have all our case files scanned into Passare, so we can easily open the app and pull them up at home, at the cemetery, or on the fly. If a family member or staff member has a question, we can find all the information we need right there.

Our team can also notify staff members in Passare about important information when a family calls, so everything is accounted for.

What impact has Planning Center had on your arrangement process?

We use the Planning Center with most families. We like that it gives some families something to work on and something to do while they are waiting for their arrangement conference. We’ve found that it gives them a purpose while they're waiting. They can start working on the death certificate, the obituary, uploading photos, and anything else they might need for the funeral process ahead of time.

It makes the process less overwhelming for them when they actually come in for the arrangement meeting.

Can you tell us about your experience with barcode tracking?

We use barcode tracking with every single loved one. We don’t budge on getting every person tagged with their location because we want our families to know that if something happens to their loved one, we know every detail.

We can tell a family exactly where, when, and who moved them at every stage of the process. We also use barcode tracking for our crematory. Tracking things digitally has been shown to be much more reliable than keeping the information on paper.

In our area, we are probably at the forefront of firms doing decedent and item tracking. It definitely gives us an advantage over competitors and gives families better peace of mind.

How have the various software integrations helped your efficiency?

We love our integrations. Everything is pretty smooth and flawless in each of our connections.

We can merge cases over from Answering Service for Directors (ASD), which is really beneficial and saves time on data entry. We use an integration with our aftercare program, and it’s also great because everything is connected now, and we didn't have that before.

We also use the website integration with Tukios and have been really happy with how that’s going. We love that Passare is on the cutting edge for the funeral homes, and that includes making it easy to connect with all of the tools we use daily.

How has the integration with Funeral Directors Life’s Accounting and Claimcheck improved your operations?

Those integrations are lifesavers. Funeral Directors Life (FDL) now handles our accounting, which spares us the bookkeeping. This allows us to focus more on our families and helping them heal.

We wanted to do everything as one collaborative team, so it made sense for us to use Claimcheck as well. It’s so easy because everything is already built into Claimcheck’s system. From the contract to the insurance processing fees, it’s all right there. And we have instant access to the team for messaging. These integrations make it easy because you can go to one place for answers instead of calling multiple vendors.

Your ecosystem has made it really easy to call one person who knows us, has all our information, and can get us the answers and resources we need right away.

Would you recommend Passare to other funeral professionals?

I would recommend Passare to any firm of any size. Passare’s dedication to innovation and improvement will translate into success and growth for your funeral home. We are proof of that.
