How Laurel Hill Funeral Home saved hours and eliminated double data entry with Passare
October 16, 2026
Patricia A. Quigley, manager and funeral director at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, operated with a balance of pen, paper, and spreadsheets for quite some time. However, her team always seemed to move faster than the systems they had in place. Constantly bogged down by repetitive data entry, her team began looking for a software solution that could keep up.
Then they found Passare.
When the firm implemented Passare, Patricia described it as a "dream come true." Now, Patricia and her team are able to bridge the gap between providing traditional, in-person service and using modern technology to save time and improve accuracy across their business.
Keep reading to see how Patricia and her team have benefited from using Passare.
What has your overall experience been like since switching to Passare?
Having Passare is like a dream come true. I can’t say enough about it. It’s made a huge difference for all of us because of the integrations and the ability to customize and fill out forms with autofill. We have fewer errors, and we save so much time.
What does your process look like blending paper files and digital case management?
I’ll admit, I enjoy using pen and paper. It was one of my younger funeral directors who heard about Passare and suggested we try it to save ourselves some time. And we’ve been very happy with the ability to automate data entry, but the majority of us on staff still take a blended approach, and that works for us.
For example, I prefer to go into the arrangement room with a paper file. But that doesn’t mean I don’t see massive benefits from the software afterward. Once I enter the information from a paper file into Passare, I don’t have to do it again. It saves so much time. There’s a lot to the software we’re not even using yet, but so far, it’s been great.
Can you tell us about how having customized forms in Passare has been beneficial for your workflow?
The ability to customize forms has been huge. The Passare team customized all the forms we regularly use, such as our cremation authorization, FTC form, vital statistics worksheet, and goods and services.
We also have a few internal forms, like a certified medical worksheet that we send to doctors and our funeral information sheet, which we send to the whole company to help coordinate the layout of the arrangements. Those forms are customized to include everything, from the private ID and visitation to the funeral and burial.
And the beauty of all these forms is that we only have to type in the person’s name, Social Security number, birthday, and death date once into Passare. After that, the data auto-fills everywhere it needs to go, which has led to much fewer errors for our team.
Do you have any favorite integrations?
I love the integration with Answering Service for Directors (ASD), because when calls come in at night, the information ASD collects is very thorough. And each call handled by ASD creates a new case in Passare that appears on our dashboard. At that point, when our team arrives for the day, we can either accept the new case or merge it with an existing pre-need case. When you merge a case, it adds the information right to the existing file in Passare - it’s so easy.
The integration with the Pennsylvania Electronic Death Registration System (EDRS) has also been great. Everyone in the funeral profession is aware of how tedious it can be to submit a death certificate. With this integration, as long as you have the information in Passare, you can send everything right over to EDRS Pennsylvania. It's very simple.
What has your experience been like with Passare's support team?
Passare support is really great. Our team often operates at what feels like the speed of light, because we’re so busy. Whenever I’ve reached out to the support team, they respond just as fast. I really appreciate that responsiveness.
Would you recommend Passare to other funeral professionals?
I would, because Passare has made a huge difference for us. I think we could continue to improve by using the tools even more, but for what we’re using in Passare right now,the software is so worth it. All of our information and forms are accessible, we save time on data entry, and we make fewer errors.
