2022 OFDA Convention & Exhibition: 3 Must-See Events

2

The 2022 OFDA Convention & Exhibition has nearly 25 speaking events over four days. With so many options, how do you know which ones you should make time for? Let us help you out!

Here are our 3 must-see sessions at the Ohio Funeral Directors Association Convention & Exhibition that you'll want to mark down on your calendar.

1. Ethics in Today’s Business and Meeting the Insurance Needs of the Senior Market

OK — so, this event is bright and early, and it's five hours. However, there will be a lot of great info covered, and you can earn 5 CEU credits for attending! Learn how to establish a strong ethical foundation in your funeral home and the benefits that come from it in the first part of the program from Kevin Gaffney. Then, hear from Pam Ulery on the financial and communication needs of the senior market. You'll find out how to better provide end-of-life products to these individuals in your community. These two are some of the best and brightest!

When: Monday, May 23, 7 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Speaker: Kevin Gaffney, Funeral Directors Life's Regional Sales Vice President
Speaker: Pam Ulery, Funeral Directors Life's Director of Sales Development

CEU Credits: 5

2. The Young and the Restless

No, not the T.V. show, but just as captivating! At Passare, we've talked to funeral directors all over the country this past year, and we have heard first-hand that there is one pressing problem affecting most funeral homes — staffing. Leili McMurrough will focus on how to create an inviting atmosphere in your funeral home and how to keep an "employee-centered" perspective. You'll also hear from mortuary students, recent graduates, and first-year funeral directors. Plus, you'll learn why some funeral professional-hopefuls leave the industry.

When: Wednesday, May 25, 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Speaker: Leili McMurrough, Funeral Director/Attorney at Law/Worsham College of Mortuary Science Program Director

CEU Credits: 1

3. The Future is NOW for Funeral Service

Chris Cruger and Doug Gober will share the results of a study on families' thoughts and attitudes toward the funeral and cemetery professions. They found that the funeral and cemetery professions are not in decline, but are thriving and growing. You'll learn about their main takeaways, like how change and the pandemic has affected the profession, as well as the impact in preneed, technology, price transparency, and more. We can't wait to hear the takeaways and results of this study!

When: Thursday, May 26, 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.

Speaker: Chris Cruger, Chief Executive Officer of The Foresight Companies
Speaker: Doug Gober, Partner at The Foresight Companies

CEU Credits: 1
