Spotlight: Mid South Mortuary

Mid South Mortuary Spotlight - Passare

Dillon Dickey and Seanna Hamm of Mid South Mortuary knew their old funeral home software wasn’t fulfilling their business needs. After switching to Passare, onboarding with Client Services, and taking advantage of popular features like decedent tracking and digital whiteboards, Dillon and Seanna can’t imagine serving their families without these timesaving tools!

You onboarded with client services when you switched to Passare. What was that experience like for you?

Dillon: Passare’s Client Services team took the time to come to Tennessee, learn our organization, and fine tune how they could work best for us in the future. They learned exactly what it is we do here and how things operate. They were attentive to our needs and concerns, responded quickly, and had a lot of great ideas. We’re a high-volume facility, and now that we have Passare, we could not go back to a more simplified system.

Seanna: Passare had solutions before we even knew we had a problem. They would catch a problem and already have a workaround or a solution. We’ve also invested in ongoing premium support. They help us whenever we need it, and they do it with a smile! That, to me, is worth it because I know that they’ve got my back when I’m in a sticky situation

What features have you enjoyed within Passare so far?

Dillon: It has been nice to scan and upload all our documents and photos into Passare. I don’t have to go digging through files when I can’t find a certain person’s information or if it’s already been disposed of. Also, if I get a call, I don’t have to get the other funeral director to answer the phone. I can go into the notes section in our Passare account and see exactly what’s going on. Nine times out of 10, I can answer their question myself like I’ve been working on the case the whole time. Plus, Passare’s reporting is accurate and efficient. I run a lot of financial reports and have one specific report automatically sent to me. I don’t have to go into Passare and produce the same report every time I need it, which is nice.

Seanna: I use the digital whiteboard frequently to make sure items get billed properly and that decedents are placed in the right area of the building or have accurate status updates. Also, if a client calls to ask about their totals, all I have to do is look it up on the digital whiteboard that already has their balance. From there, I can print, fax, or email it to them. The digital whiteboard is a lifesaver here in the office.

How has Passare's decedent tracking feature helped your business?

Dillon: Decedent Tracking is probably the most important thing that Passare offers us — it’s extremely important. It’s nice to have the QR codes and to scan a decedent or their items and know exactly where those items are located, all updated in real time. Also, something I noticed the other day was that it’s easy to wash the name off the tag whenever I’m embalming. Luckily, when it used to happen, I would catch it and rewrite the tag. With Passare’s QR code system, if I or someone else forget to fill out the tag, I can scan the QR code and get all information that way. Plus, the ink can’t wash away!

Seanna: Decedent Tracking is nice for us in the office because we know who’s still in our care and who has been released. Then, we double check that all the required paperwork for that person has been completed and is in order. So, when they’re gone from our care, we know that there should be paperwork A, B and C. If you do any kind of volume with two or more people in your care at a time, you should have a solid, reliable tracking system. That’s definitely what this feature is.

What would you tell another funeral director/professional about Passare?

Seanna: We were recently at a convention and were asked several times about what software we use. We already were singing Passare’s praises because, at that point, Passare had already saved us so much time and effort with everything that we’re doing here. There’s always another answering service. There’s always another insurance company. At conventions, there’s always another company that is selling, and they always want to know what you’re using. Well, they couldn’t say anything to top what we already had with Passare!
