Slow Cook Chicken on the Gas Grill - Dwayne & Dorinda Cobb

About the cook

Hi everyone! My name is Dorinda Cobb, and I'm sharing a cook from my husband Dwayne A. Cobb's recipe book. We're with Akins-Cobb Funerals & Cremations in Georgia and we love to grill out. For this cook, we made smoked chicken on our gas grill, and it tasted amazing! We're excited to be a part of the Passare BBQ community, and hope everyone enjoys this recipe.

Chicken done right

This recipe is super easy and doesn't require a long list of ingredients. It's great for barbecue chefs of all skill levels and is always a good one when hosting family and friends. It's a low-maintenance cook that doesn't require a lot of steps, so it gives you more time to visit with guests!

We started by seasoning the chicken with one of our favorite's, Nashville Hot Seasoning and cooked it slowly on the gas grill. Don't rush this one - good things come to those who wait!

Ingredients and supplies

For cooking:

  • Chicken
  • Nashville Hot Seasoning

Cooking instructions

Take thawed chicken and rub generously with seasoning.

Heat your gas grill to about 275 degrees.

Place your chicken on a raised grate or on the warming shelf of your gas grill.

Rotate the grate about every 15 minutes.

After about 45-60 minutes, a nice brown crust should have formed.

Once you have the color you're looking for, continue cooking for another 30-45 minutes until meat has reached 185-195 degrees internal.

Remove it from the grill, let it rest for a few minutes, and dig in!

Our go-to sides

For this cook, we made some of our favorite side dishes to pair with the smoked chicken. We whipped up a batch of buttery mashed potatoes and added a side of green beans. This smoked chicken is tasty, yet simple, so any side dish pairs great - these are just two of our favorites!

Funeral service makes a difference

Dwayne and I both love being a part of funeral service, because we get the opportunity to serve others every single day when we go to work. We love being able to take problems off a family and make them our problem to fix. We are always there for our families, no matter what.
