2022_mfda_convention_logo

With more than a dozen speaking events scheduled, how will you know which sessions you will attend at this year's MFDA Convention? We've got some suggestions for you!

Here are the 3 sessions you won't want to miss.

1. Building a Bridge of Care to Serve Families

Did you know that you can improve your level of care and service to families by working with local hospice groups? Create a positive and mutually beneficial relationship with hospice to better serve families and increase your referrals. This is a topic that we're passionate about at Passare, and we even have an eBook on working with hospice. You'll hear from our friends at Funeral Directors Life about the value of a relationship between hospice and funeral homes. You're going to want to hear what they have to say!

When: Wednesday, May 25, 1:30 p.m. - 2:20 p.m.

Sponsor: Funeral Directors Life

2. Recruiting and Retaining Top Talent: Challenges Facing Funeral Service Employers and Solutions for Effectively Meeting Workforce Demands

At Passare, we've talked to funeral directors all over the country this past year, and we have heard first-hand that there is one pressing problem affecting most funeral homes — staffing. Most funeral directors struggle to keep a full staff, and recruiting the right people to join their funeral home is becoming a growing problem. This session will teach you how to connect with recent mortuary science graduates, approaches to addressing conflict in the workplace, the best proactive recruiting strategies, and more. Earn 1 Professional Practice CEU credit for attending.

When: Thursday, May 26, 12:30 p.m. - 1:20 p.m.

Speakers: Michael LuBrant, Minnesota University Director of Mortuary Science

3. “They don’t need to see that” - How to Talk About Kids at Funerals

Some families believe that it's best to shield their children from the reality of funerals. But that's not always true. You'll hear from Jessica Moujouros of Healing Hearts Connection about the importance of informing grieving families about allowing children to be present at funerals. She'll also explain how to include children in funerals and how to prepare them for visitations and memorial services. We know that Jessica's session will be full of compassion and heart. Passare has several employees that have volunteered at Healing Hearts Connection, and can testify that it is a life-changing organization. You will definitely be impacted by what she has to say!

When: Thursday, May 26, 1:30 p.m. - 2:20 p.m.

Speaker: Jessica Moujouros, Executive Director of Healing Hearts Connection
