A main part of the job as a funeral director is to fill out forms, upload obituaries, enter vitals, and many other tasks that involve recording and entering information from families. It’s extremely important to get these details right. To make things more complicated, funeral directors and front desk staff are having to enter the same information into multiple systems - increasing chances for entry errors.

To avoid chances of error and constant re-keying of information, you need case management software that plays well with others.

What we mean is, you need software that can integrate with the other services you use.

Passare has 30+ software integrations that save our customers tremendous amounts of time when it comes to entering information. While these integrations are great, we wanted to make sure you can still experience the same time-saving benefits, even if we don’t integrate with your specific provider (yet!). So, we developed a public API allowing integrations with any provider.

What's a public API?

API stands for Application Programming Interface. Simply put, an API is a way for two pieces of software to talk to each other. For example, many funeral home office managers and administrators spend half their time entering the same information into multiple software systems for websites, memorial printing, accounting, and much more. An API allows those software systems to communicate directly with Passare, just like an integration, so you only have to enter information one time.

How does an API work?

The best way to explain how an API work is to think of Passare as an electrical outlet, and other softwares as the plug. This means we can essentially connect with ANY software - exponentially multiplying the benefits of being a Passare user. 😉

Here’s everything you need to know about using an API with Passare:

• When using our API, information is automatically pushed out of Passare to the third-party software, so you don’t have to enter the same information into multiple systems.

• Once connected, the other software determines if Passare gives or takes information, or both.

• Because our API is public, Passare users can connect any software they want. Keep scrolling to see exactly how to securely connect a third-party software to Passare.

Just recently, we’ve added webhooks to our API.

Before webhooks, partners using our Public API were responsible for retrieving information on their own. Now, they can say “send me information every time the obituary page is edited” and Passare pushes it automatically based on that trigger.

With this addition, our integrations are timelier and even more powerful.
