Integrations can make your life so much easier and streamline your process for each family you serve. For example, you enter the details of Mrs. Jones’ funeral into Passare and then send all the information needed over to your website with the click of a button. Obituary, service times, photos, everything.

But what if your web provider does not yet integrate with Passare? That can be time consuming, which leaves you and your staff feeling frustrated when you have to enter the same information twice.  

That’s why we are proud to announce our new groundbreaking public API! 🥳 

Wait a second. What’s a public API? 

API stands for Application Programming Interface. Simply put, an API is a way for two pieces of software to talk to each other. For example, many funeral home office managers and administrators spend half their time entering the same information into multiple software systems for website, memorial printing, accounting, and much more. An API allows those software systems to communicate directly with Passare so you only have to enter information one time.

Is It Safe?

Absolutely! “Public API” may sound like anyone has access to it, but that is not the case. In order to gain access to the data in Passare, a software company will need to receive an API key, which is a line of security to ensure that only those who are authorized can get information from Passare. An API key will only be provided to software companies who work with our customers to ensure that the data within Passare remains safe and secure. Additionally, you will be able to activate the data transfer on a case-by-case basis, so only the data you want to send is transferred to your provider.

Sounds great! How do I get it? 

Passare offers several website integrations already. If you use one of these providers, all you have to do is have your integration turned on by contacting our support team. If Passare does not currently integrate with your web provider, simply request that we send your website provider an API key. Once a key is given to your website provider, they will have what they need to connect with Passare and start saving you time. 

Currently, our API is ready for website integrations, but this is just the beginning. Over the next several months, we’ll continue to roll out more of our public API that will extend beyond website providers to integrations such as print, accounting, and much more.
